This rewarding volunteer role would suit any applicants who have an affinity with animals and anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend their spare time.
The position involves working within the area of our Foster Care Program and assisting with fostering out hundreds of animals in need each year. The duties performed include dog and cat handling, preparing cats, kittens, dogs and puppies for foster eg. cleaning cages, feeding, animal handling, medicating, assisting with basic veterinary procedures, washing equipment, moving animals around the shelter, updating the database, corresponding with foster carers, preparing documentation, property checks, inducting potential foster carers and being a great ambassador for RSPCA Qld!
As part of this role you maybe involved in some emotionally confronting or challenging situations.
The position is available approx 10 hours per week, Monday - Saturday. We ask for a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Full orientation and training is provided.
If you are animal welfare and customer focused, keen to make a difference, comfortable determining suitable homes for our animals, and able to deny unsuitable homes please forward your resume.
Skills required – Good customer service skills, good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, previous experience with databases or data entry, confidence in an office environment, team work skills, the ability to work independently and the ability to multitask. Good knowledge of dog, cat or wildlife breeds would be an advantage although not essential.
Skills to be gained – Knowledge of shelter operations, experience with extensive administrative duties, further develop customer service skills.
