Volunteer Foster Carer
Cairns
The Foster Care Program is a vital part of the RSPCA. Each year thousands of dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, poultry, livestock, horses, caged birds, mice, rats and guinea pigs, rely on our wonderful foster carers for a second chance in life. Many of these animals are simply too young for desexing and adoption. Others may be injured, sick or have a behavioural issue that needs addressing.
A home environment is far better for an animal compared to a pen or cage in the shelter. A loving foster family can provide a more stress-free and caring place where an animal can grow, thrive and recover.
Right now, our Cairns Shelter is in great need of adult cat foster carers. If you think you can handle some feline loving, contact us today! There’s also a need for foster carers who can help with our Black Tag animals (cruelty and neglect case animals who are awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings) and animals who have come in with our Pets in Crisis Program (animals who are boarded for up to 28 days while their owners relocate from a domestic violence situation). If you would like to know more about the RSPCA Foster Care Program, email fostering@rspcaqld.org.au to request an information package and expression of interest form (alternately, you can contact the State Foster Care Coordinator on 07 3426 9997 to provide your postal address).
