Volunteer Grooming/Hydrobath Assistant

This rewarding volunteer role would suit any applicants that love animals, people wishing to work with animals, and anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend their spare time.

The position involves bathing dogs for the general public as part of a RSPCA Qld fundraising initiative; you will be trained in hydrobath and basic animal handling techniques.   Duties include: hydrobathing, blowdrying, toilet walks, assisting the groomer to hold the dogs whilst being clipped, cleaning hydrobath and pens through out the day.

We ask for a minimum commitment of of 4 hours to whole day per week for a minimum of 3 months.  Full orientation and training will be provided.

Skills required – Some knowledge of animal grooming, experience with animal handling, the ability to work independently, the ability to stand for long periods, good customer service skills.

Skills to be gained – Animal handling and training techniques, animal shelter experience and basic animal behaviour knowledge.
